Building in Quality and Safety with Technology and ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001 Certifications
In a fast-moving industry like oil and gas handling, there’s no margin for error. Every process and piece of equipment must perform exactly as expected, each time it’s used. Achieving such consistency, reliability and safety doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of following procedures and methods that codify and apply best-practices.
Certification is one aspect, the technology Lindsayca uses is another. By submitting to certification processes, we invite external experts to tell us what we could be doing better. And by investing in technology products, we streamline our internal processes, while improving communication and documentation. Together, certification and technology help us get ever better at what we do.
First achieving and then maintaining ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications, as well those ASME pressure vessel stamps, takes a lot of work. We believe the effort more than pays for itself though. While these certifications demonstrate our competency and proficiency to our clients, that’s not the real motivation behind getting them. What matters to us is that they help us keep getting better at everything we do.
This demonstrates that our internal Quality Assurance system complies with ISO 9001. To do this, we have defined and documented all our internal processes that influence the quality of the products and services we provide. A system of internal audits lets us check that the procedures are yielding the benefits we expect, and external audit verifies that our systems meet ISO requirements.
Similar to ISO 9001, this standard addresses the processes we use to measure and manage our environmental impact. We’re environmentally aware and committed to sustainability. This certification lets us measure how we are doing and identify opportunities to improve.
Safety is a core value for us. We believe everyone, clients and vendors as well as employees, should be safe at work. Certification to this standard affirms our commitment to Health and Safety best practices.
ASME Pressure Vessel Certifications
When you’re building pressure vessels, it’s absolutely critical to buy quality materials and maintain tight control over fabrication and welding processes. While there’s a degree of overlap with ISO 9001:2008, ASME certification – we have both ‘U’ and ‘R’ stamps – verifies our ability to produce products that will perform safely and reliably for years to come.
The Technology We Deploy
As a project-based organization with an intense focus on following formal processes, we have a lot of documentation. To prevent this from making us less agile, we made a substantial investment in three leading-edge technology products: SAP,® FileMaker® and SharePoint®.
SAP is our enterprise resource planning (ERP software) system. This handles business processes from order entry to invoicing and includes activities like purchasing and our agile manufacturing facility.
totalQ™ is the heart of our completion management system. It’s a database that helps us manage all our certifications and the associated documentation. Without it, we’d respond slower to client requests and we’d be buried in paperwork!
SharePoint is another essential piece of our document control system. It lets us store and share policies, procedures and work instructions, ensuring that everyone has the latest copies of every document they need.
Continuously Growing Our Competency and Proficiency
If you’re interested in learning more about our certifications or the technology we use, please just ask. We’ll be very happy to explain what we do, why we do it, and the benefits it brings.
